Wig Selection
How Do I Select a Suitable Wig Style For My Face Shape
Oval Face
Clients with an Oval face shape are fortunate as an oval shape is very versatile and will suit almost any wig style. Long Synthetic Wigs , short, straight or curly styles will all look quite natural and flattering.
Round Face
Round face clients should look for styles that are a little longer than their face so as to avoid emphasizing the rounded nature of their face. Styles with soft curls and layers will also help reduce the rounded look of the face. Short bobs and page boy styles should be avoided. Medium Synthetic Wigs or Long Wigs are best.
Square Face
Clients with a Square face shape should avoid styles with sharp lines such as straight cut fringes. Styles with sweeping fringes and medium length layers that sit close to the face will reduce the square or angular look.
Heart-Shaped Face
With a Heart shaped face clients should avoid styles with volume around the crown and top of the wig. Instead they should look for styles that are a little fuller around the jaw line with a soft fringe or no fringe at all.
Oblong Face
Oblong face shapes need to look for styles that have a wave or curl around the cheek and/or jaw line. This will give width to your face removing any emphasis of your longer shaped face. Styles that are long and layered will only make your face look longer and should be avoided. Short Synthetic Wigs are an ideal wig for this shaped face.
In summary a suitable wig should not have volume around any areas that you do not want to emphasis so as to balance the particular face shape e.g. Make a longer face look shorter.
An important note to remember is that if you are a first time wig wearer try not to choose a style to different from your own original hairstyle. A big change in style or colour can be difficult to adjust to all at once.
Colour Selection
It is often best to choose your colour after having settled on a suitable style. First time wig wearers should avoid choosing colours that are a radical change for the existing or previous colour as big changes can take a little getting used to. Once you have had one or two wigs then you may feel more comfortable in trying a new colour. When choosing a new colour your own skin tone should be considered. Some of the Premium Synthetic Wigs have some great blends that look very realistic.
